One Site That Effectively Uses Multimedia

Introduction

On the internet, hundreds of sites can be found, all going across different subjects. They teach from the best way to make pancakes, to the best movies that just came to theaters. But the best websites are the ones that use multimedia effectively. Multimedia is the use of pictures, videos, typography to help the reader understand the information being conveyed to them. One website that uses multimedia effectively is HISTORY.com, which is a site that is focused on history. I chose this site because it uses plenty of multimedia in its homepage, and in its articles. 

The Homepage

When you first go onto HISTORY.com, you are met with the homepage. On the homepage, there is plenty of typography, which is the art of decorating words in a way that appeals to the user and help them to understand the text, making them feel welcomed. The titles are big and bold, while the captions are small and faint. There are also plenty of videos, and when you scroll down you will see articles that have pictures to go with them. Everything is nicely spaced out and put in a way that is not distracting. The homepage also has a navigation bar that helps put the different parts of the website in a category of its own. This site really knows how to use multimedia in an effective way.

The Articles

HISTORY.com is also plentiful in the articles and stories it has to offer. When you go to the articles, you will see pictures and videos that go with it. Subheadings are also bold, and important keywords are highlighted. Some of the keywords even have links. The site clearly takes into consideration multimedia in terms of the way they use it.

Summary

In summary, HISTORY.com definitely is a site that uses multimedia effectively. The homepage is filled with videos, pictures, and good typography, and same goes for the articles too. The website's use in multimedia probably has helped many to truly understand the history it teaches.
