Sites That Effectively Use Multimedia, and Sites That Don't
Introduction
All over the internet, there are hundreds of thousands of websites found. Websites that go across different subjects, from talking about medicine to entertainment. Some websites make their page seem more understandable by adding in various multimedia to aid with the information found on there. But then there are other websites that do not. Multimedia includes videos, pictures, charts, and practically anything that holds information. It not only makes the viewer understand the material being presented more, but also brightens up the page in general. This blog is going to discuss one website that uses multimedia effectively, and one that does not.
The Website That Does It Right
The National Geographic Website is an excellent website that uses multimedia effectively. This website is a website that gives information on different wildlife and places. I chose this website because on the homepage, various pictures can be seen, each relating to the text that is either near it or on top of it. The articles on that website are also filled with multimedia. They include numerous amounts of videos, pictures, and slideshows, all relating to the topic being discussed. This really helps those who go to the site understand what they are learning.
The Website That Does It Wrong
The website that I feel does not make a great use of multimedia is WebMD. WebMD is a medical website that gives health advice. You'd think that since it is a medical website it would have plenty of pictures, but sadly most of the time that is not the case. It is true that like National Geographic, its homepage is filled with plenty of multimedia. The homepage includes podcasts, pictures, and videos. But the thing is most of the articles on there do not have any sort of multimedia. The article pages are bland, and the only thing on most of them are text. It would do them more good to add at least 2-3 pictures.
Summary
In summary, it is true that there are many websites that exist on the internet. Most of them include multimedia such as videos, pictures, charts, and slideshows. However, some of them do not add as much. One website that does a good job with the amount of multimedia it has is National Geographic. It is filled with plenty of pictures, videos, and slideshows. But one that does not do as good is WebMD, as it is a medical website that barely has any pictures to explain itself. Overall, I hope you enjoyed my first blog.
